We were delighted to hear from Pegasus AC when they decided to make Northern Ireland Boxer Rescue Society this years recipient of their Charity Boxing Day Fun Run.

In October last year, Shirley Park a member of Pegasus AC contacted NIBRS about adopting one of the dogs on the site. After going through the home check process it turned out that MAX and the Park family were a great match.

The family cut it fine to rehome MAX on the 12 December 2007 as we do not rehome dogs over the Christmas period.

Before the start of the RaceThe Race starts

The annual Pegasus AC charity run took place with 36 runners in attendance during the mild but chilly Boxing Day. Over £150 was raised in support of the NI Boxer Dog Rescue Society. Runners were required to either run 4.8 miles or 3 miles depending on how they felt after the Christmas Day fattening! One competitor to note was double Olympic rower Richard Archibald giving running a try after his recent retirement from international competition. Also competing was former NI Commonwealth athlete Julie Murphy and world veteran tri athlete participant Anne Paul.

Bryan Edgar of Springwell RC put in a fine performance to win from fellow clubmate Colin Loughry and Leslie Ashe in 3rd place. Richard Archibald had a brilliant battle with Anne Paul who won the women’s section from Julie Murphy (Lagan Valley AC). Barry of the society addressed the runners after their great efforts wishing them all a Happy New Year along with Pegasus AC chairman Peter Crook after the spot prizes were given out.
