HOMES FOUND - NIAMH

By the time Niamh was three years old and came into Rescue, she'd had 6 litters.

Niamh was rehomed with Gill Knox in December 1998.

UPDATE - 22 Aug 08

Mary spoke with Gill and asked her if she could write something about her time with Niamh.

"Mary came to the door with Niamh a beautiful Red & White Boxer eight and a half years ago. It was love at first sight for both of us. She was three years old and a real character. She could open every door in the house and on one occasion, I left a large pineapple boiled cake cooling on the dining room table, not for long! When I returned, the dining room door was open and one tiny crumb remained! My most common expression became "Who did it?" Niamh's eyes became as big as saucers but with a slight air of defiance.

Another day, an extremely large selection box fell off the cabinet and when I returned all that was left was the silver paper. She was rushed to the Vet and had her stomach pumped and I was presented with a very large bill.

I think the most amazing occurrence was when Niamh and I were curled up on the sofa watching TV (she liked Coronation Street), Barney the Border Collie and Frederica the Golden Retriever were in the garden and Barney barked at the kitchen door to be let in. Niamh got down from the sofa, opened the kitchen door and let both dogs in. She then closed the door behind them and returned to the sofa!

Niamh was my soul mate, the love of my life. When she had to be put to sleep after years of heart problems in August 2007, I held her close and told her I loved her. I wanted to die too as I had lost my best friend".
